Energetik-BGU Minsk is welcoming FC Smolevichi to Stadyen RTsOP-BGU in part of round 7 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Energetik has been a complete disaster for the last few weeks. In their last three-game in the Vysshaya League, Energetik has lost all three of those games without scoring a single goal, while they conceded 6 goals. After three victories in the first three games of the new season, this streak is quite strange because Energetik was playing well on both ends. With 9 points, 6 scored goals, and 7 conceded goals, Energetik is in 8th place in the standings. In their most recent game in the Vysshaya League against Torpedo on the road, Energetik was bad with only 45% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, and 2 corner kicks. Energetik barely created any chances in this match and has lost this game 3-0. I have been favoring Energetik for weeks now because I think they have a solid team and were playing good soccer on both ends, but all of that disappeared fast. First think Energetik must do is start scoring goals again, and with that, the rest will follow.
Smolevichi is one of the weakest and the worst teams in the Vysshaya League. Smolevichi haven’t won any of their last 6 games and are in 15th place in the standings with only 3 points from their 6 games. Smolevichi isn’t playing well on either end and they scored only 3 goals, while they conceded 7 goals. Smolevichi is the newcomer to the Vysshaya League and seeing their current form and the position on the table, I’m not sure Smolevichi has the quality to stay in the Vysshaya League next season as well. In their last match against Dinamo Minsk at home, Smolevichi has had 52% of ball possession, 3 corner kicks, and 0 shots on goal. Smolevichi was the worse team in this game and the only goal they had was scored by their own goal. Smolevichi has lost this game 1-3 and their slump has continued. It’s not unusual that the team that got promoted is struggling in the new league against much better opponents, and that is what is happening here. Smolevichi might have the quality for Belarus' second division, but the Vysshaya League is a different story. Even though the difference between Smolevichi and the team outside the relegation zone is not big, the other teams in the relegation zone are better than Smolevichi and for that reason, I don’t think Smolevichi will be lucky enough to end outside the relegation zone.
I have been backing Energetik week after week, and I will back them once again here. Smolevichi is a bad team, in bad form and there is nothing that can make me to give them a chance here. I think Energetik finally gets a win.
