FK Slutsk vs. Energetik-BGU Minsk 5/8/20 Belarus Vysshaya League Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction
5/8/20 10 am
Over 2.5 (+110), Under 2.5 (-143)
FK Slutsk is welcoming Energetik to Garadskoi Stadium in part of round 8 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Slutsk is playing in a nice form as of late and they haven’t lost any of their last 5 games, and out of those 5, Slutsk has won 4 games. With only 1 loss in the Vysshaya League so far this season, Slutsk is in first place in the standings with 16 points, 14 scored goals, and 9 conceded goals. Offensively, Slutsk is the best team in the Vysshaya League this season, while their defense needs improvement, it’s not bad overall. In their last match in the Vysshaya League against Dinamo Minsk on the road last weekend, Slutsk has had only 33% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, and 3 corner kicks, but Slutsk was able to score 2 goals from their 2 shots and has won this match 1-2. Slutsk is very consistent in the attacking part of the game this season and they scored at least 1 goal in 6 of their 7 games. As I’ve mentioned earlier, Slutsk’s defense could use improvement because they conceded a goal in every one of their games this season. For as long as Slutsk is playing this amazing, offensive soccer, it will be hard to stop, no matter how bad their defense is, and to be honest, I love it because it makes the league a lot more interesting.
After three losses in a row, and without scoring a goal, Energetik has finally ended their dry spell with a nice victory against Smolevichi last weekend. Energetik was solid in that game with 45% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, and 9 corner kicks. Energetik got an early lead in the first half and the result hasn’t changed until the 96th minute when Energetik confirmed their win. Despite the three losses in a row, Energetik is still close to the top, in 4th place with 12 points, 8 scored goals, and 7 conceded goals. I know that Smolevichi is probably the worst team in the Vysshaya League, but Energetik was in dire need of a win, and to them, it doesn’t matter where it came from. Last season Energetik barely escaped the relegation zone, which means this high place in the standings is a nice change of the pace for Energetik, and for once they don’t have to worry about the relegation. I was favoring Energetik for weeks when they were on the losing streak because I know they have a good team, and they are playing nice soccer, but we will see after this match if they can stay in good form, or will they fall behind once again.
Slutsk and Energetik have played twice before with one game ending in a draw, and Slutsk winning the other one. This is the matchup between two of the teams that no one expected to be at the top, or close to the top. I expect this to be a fun and interesting match, filled with chances, and more importantly, goals.
