FC Smolevichi is welcoming Bate Borisov to Ozyorny Stadium in round 8 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Smolevichi is in terrible form and they are still without a win in the Vysshaya League this season. With only 3 points, 3 scored goals, and 9 conceded goals, Smolevichi is in 15th place in the standings, and this is where they will spend their whole season in my opinion. Smolevichi is the newcomer to the Vysshaya League, but after this season they will go where they belong, to the Belarus second division. It’s clear that Smolevichi doesn’t have the quality to compete with the rest of the teams in the Vysshaya League. In their most recent match against Energetik on the road last weekend, Smolevichi had 55% of ball possession, 7 corner kicks, but 0 shots on goal, and Smolevichi has lost this match 2-0. Smolevichi has conceded at least one goal in 6 of their 7 games this season, while they scored in only 3 games. The schedule is not great for Smolevichi as they play against some of the best teams in the Vysshaya League over the next few weeks and I think Smolevichi will have to wait for some time before they win another point.
Bate Borisov has awoken. Bate has lost only 1 game in their last 7 games, while they won their last three straight matches. One of those three victories came in the Belarus Cup against Slavia Mozyr where Bate Borisov advanced to the finals of that competition. In their last 5 games in the Vysshaya League, Bate has conceded only 1 goal, while they scored 9 goals. After a terrible start of the season, Bate is now in 3rd place in the standings with 13 points, only 3 points away from the top, where they belong. Offensively, Bate has been one of the best thanks to their streak without a loss, and they scored 11 goals in 7 games. In their most recent match in the Vysshaya League against Neman at home, Bate was the better team in every aspect of the game. Bate has had 63% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, and 3 corner kicks. Bate Borisov was in complete control of this match and has won the game 3-1. Belarus Cup finals are scheduled to play on May 24th, but before that Bate has 3 games to play in the Vysshaya League, and they won’t be easy as they play against some of the teams that are in good form in the Vysshaya League. Losing the title last season was a huge blow to Bate Borisov, but I believe they are the best team in Belarus, and I see them taking their title back this season.
Smolevichi and Bate have met twice back in 2018 and Bate have won both of those games. Bate Borisov is the better team here and they are huge favorites in this match, and I completely agree. Bate is on a roll and they will be extremely hard to stop.
