Over 2.5 (-125), Under 2.5 (+100)
Hoffenheim is hosting Hertha BSC at PreZero Arena in part of round 26 of the German Bundesliga.
Hoffenheim is restarting Bundesliga at home against a decent Hertha team. The last match that Hoffenheim played was back in early March against Schalke and that match ended in a 1-1 draw. Hoffenheim was solid in that match with 57% of ball possession, 5 corner kicks, 1 shot on goal, and 86% of the correct passes. Of course, none of these stats are worth anything now since that game was over two months ago and Hoffenheim hasn’t played a game after that. With 35 points, 35 scored goals, and 43 conceded goals, Hoffenheim is in 9th place in the standings, just 2 points away from the Europa League playoff spot. Andrej Kramaric is Hoffenheim’s leading goal scorer with 7 goals, while Adamyan added 5 goals. Danish international Robert Skov has 4 assists. Beldofil, Adamyan, and Dabbur are injured and will not be in the lineup. Hoffenheim has been more than good over the last few seasons in Bundesliga, but since their former coach left at the end of the last season, Hoffenheim isn’t even a shadow of their former self. Since the players have been practicing just over a week, we are yet to see how the squad will look like and what will the chemistry between players be. Overall, Hoffenheim has a solid roster and I hope they can get to that Europa League spot.
At this time, Hertha is closer to the relegation zone to the Europa League spot. Hertha is in 13th place with 28 points, 32 scored goals, and 48 conceded goals. In their last three games in the Bundesliga, Hertha has conceded 10 goals and their defense has been a disaster throughout the season. In their last match in Bundesliga against Wolfsburg, Hertha had 49% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and only 68% of the correct passes. Most recently, Hertha has signed Piatek from Milan as their star striker, but just as he started to get into form, the season had to be stopped because of the Coronavirus. Lukebakio has scored 5 goals for Hertha this season, while Darida has 4 assists. Dedryck Boyata is injured, while Darida is suspended because of the yellow cards. Hertha is a decent Bundesliga team that ended last season in 11th place with 43 points, 49 scored goals, and 57 conceded goals, safe outside the relegation zone, but still far from the European competitions. With only 1 win in their last 5 Bundesliga games, Hertha will have to step up their game after this unexpected break if they want to stay outside the relegation zone and play without pressure until the end of the season.
When playing at home, Hoffenheim has not lost to Hearth in their last 5 games. Overall, Hertha hasn’t had a lot of success against Hoffenheim on the road. The form these two teams stopped the season over two months ago doesn’t matter now. Since neither of the teams has played any friendly games, I expect some sloppiness, especially on the defensive end. With all of that being said, I give a slight advantage to Hoffenheim, but I will rather pick something on goals here.
