Hertha BSC is hosting Union Berlin at Olympiastadion in part of round 27 of German Bundesliga.
Hertha was absolutely amazing in their first match after 2 months in Bundesliga. They were playing against Hoffenheim on the road and Hertha has had 49% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 84% of the correct passes. Hertha was everything that Hoffenheim wasn’t in this game, focused, calm, precise, and more importantly, Hertha has displayed fantastic teamwork. Hertha has won this match 0-3 and has gotten one step closer in avoiding the relegation zone. Hertha is now in 11th place in the standings with 31 points, 35 scored goals, and 48 conceded goals. Lukebakio is the leading goal scorer for Hertha with only 5 goals, while Ibisevic added 4 goals. Darida added 4 assists. Rekik is the only injured player for Hertha, while Kalou is suspended by the club. Hertha hasn’t been playing well on the defensive end, and they haven’t been much better when it comes to scoring goals, but I think this victory against Hoffenheim came at the perfect time for Hertha. After this match against Union Berlin, Hertha is playing against Leipzig, a team that desperately needs points. I think that Hertha has enough quality and range in their roster to stay outside the relegation zone, but that’s about it we can expect from Hertha.
Union Berlin has been solid for most of the season and they are in 12th place in the Bundesliga standings with 30 points, pretty far outside the relegation zone. In their Bundesliga match against Bayern at home this past weekend, Union was forced to defend throughout the match, as most teams would be against a Bavarian monster called Bayern Munich. Union has had only 32% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and low 67% of accurate passes. Union Berlin has lost this match 0-2, and the result could have been a lot worse if Bayern used a few more of their chances. Union Berlin hasn’t won any of their last 4 games and they conceded massive 10 goals in those 4 games while scoring only 4. Gogia, Dehl, and Becker are still on the injury list and will not be in the lineup for this match. Andersson has scored 11 goals for Union this season, Bulter added 7 goals, while Trimmel added 7 assists. Union Berlin has proven that they can play with all the top teams in Bundesliga, but I don’t think this Coronavirus break was good for them because Union Berlin has lost all the momentum they had. The rest of the season will not be easy for any of the teams, Union included, that is why it’s a good thing that Union won a solid amount of points earlier in the season which should be enough for them to stay in Bundesliga.
Hertha has never won a home game against Union Berlin, but with the victory from last week, Hertha has gained some momentum and is coming into this match in good spirits. The plus money on Hertha is too good to pass.
