Shakhtyor Soligorsk is welcoming Belshina Bobruisk to Stroitel Stadium in round 10 of the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Shakhtyor is on a roll and they haven’t lost any of their last 5 games. Shakhtyor has scored 12 goals in their last 5 games while they conceded only 2, and that was in the Belarus Cup against Dynamo Brest when Shakhtyor got knocked out of the competition. Shakhtyor is slowly climbing the standings and is now in 5th place with 15 points, 11 scored goals, and only 3 conceded goals which makes them the best defensive team in the Vysshaya League. In their most recent match in the Vysshaya League against Slavia Mozyr, Shakhtyor was outstanding with 61% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, and 6 corner kicks. The match ended 2-0 in favor of Shakhtyor, but it could have been a lot more if they had just a bit more focus in the attacking end. Shakhtyor started the season slowly, but as it moved on, so did Shakhtyor. They improved in every aspect of the game and they are slowly becoming a competitor for the title. Does Shakhtyor actually have a shot at the title, I don’t think so, but they can certainly end in second or third place.
Belshina is a disaster this season, wherever they are playing. With only 3 points, 7 scored goals, and 16 conceded goals, Belshina is in the last place and is still waiting for their first victory of the season. Belshina has conceded at least one goal in every single one of their games this season, while they scored in only 6 of their 9 games. As the newcomer to the Vysshaya League, Belshina was expecting the tough season. But they were hoping for more points at this time of the season. In their last match in the Vysshaya League this past weekend against Vitebsk at home, Belshina has had 49% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, and 6 corner kicks. Overall, a solid match for Belshina, a match which ended in a 1-1 draw. There is not much left to say about Belshina, they are a weak team that can’t compete with the rest of the teams in the league and Belshina will get relegated, there is no doubt in my mind. A lot has to change in Belshina for them to stay in the Vysshaya League, and I don’t think Belshina has the quality to make those kinds of changes.
When playing at home, Shakhtyor was dominant against Belshina. While Shakhtyor is playing good soccer on both ends, Belshina is playing terrible and I think Shakhtyor gets another win here to stay in the race for the title.
