Dynamo Brest and Bate Borisov are playing in the Belarus Cup finale match at Regional Sport Complex Brestskiy.
Dynamo Brest isn’t playing well as of late and they have conceded at least one goal in 7 of their last 8 games. In the Vysshaya League, Dynamo is in 8th place in the standings with 13 points, 13 scored goals, and 13 conceded goals. Seeing that Dynamo has won the title last season, their results and place in the table are quite a disappointment. In the Belarus Cup semifinals, Dynamo was extremely lucky. In the first leg Dynamo has beaten Shakhtyor at home 2-0. In the second leg, Dynamo has had 0-2 lead at the half time, but the second half was a disaster and they conceded 4 goals in 20 minutes and Dynamo was on the brink of elimination, but the fortune was on Dynamo’s side in this match and despite losing 4-2, Dynamo advanced to the Belarus Cup finals. In their most recent match in the Vysshaya League against the same opponent they are facing in this match, Bate Borisov, Dynamo Brest has had 45% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, and 5 corner kicks. Dynamo Brest has lost this match 1-3 at home and reduced their chances of defending the title even smaller. Dynamo is not in a good form and after their loss last week, Dynamo will have to pull the rabbit out of the hat if they want to win this title.
Bate Borisov is in a fantastic form and they look unstoppable. Bate has won their last 6 games in a row, while they haven’t lost their last 8 games. After a terrible start of the season, Bate has finally taken over the top of the Vysshaya League and now has 22 points, 22 scored goals, and 10 conceded goals. Bate’s first two competitors are 3 points behind them in the table. Offensively, Bate Borisov has been outstanding with 14 scored goals in their last 4 games in the Vysshaya League. In the first leg of the Belarus Cup semifinals, Bate has lost 1-0 against Slavia Mozyr on the road, but after that game Bate’s form has begun to rise, and with that their ability to score goals like no one is defending. In the second leg, Bate Borisov has won 2-0 and has advanced to the Belarus Cup finals. It was a big shock for everyone in Bate Borisov after they lost the Vysshaya League title last season, but they are on the right track to win it back this season, and I think they will because Bate Borisov is the best team in Belarus. Bate Borisov has beaten Dynamo Brest earlier this week, also on the road, but they must remain calm and careful because the title is on the line in the Belarus Cup finals.
I have zero confidence in Dynamo Brest in their current form. I know that this is the Belarus Cup finals and the players will be playing on another level, but I just can’t back the team that is playing as terrible as Dynamo Brest is.
