Augsburg is welcoming SC Paderborn 07 to WWK Arena in round 28 of German Bundesliga.
After 6 games without a win, Augsburg has finally defeated someone, and they did it in good fashion. Augsburg was playing against Schalke this past weekend on the road and has had only 29% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and low 60% of the correct passes. Augsburg was forced to defend throughout the match, but they were somehow able to score 3 goals and to win this match 0-3. At the moment, Augsburg is in 12th place with 30 points, 40 scored goals, and 54 conceded goals. Augsburg was known to surprise this season, but for most of it, Augsburg wasn’t playing that well. Niederlechner has scored 11 goals and added 6 assists for Augsburg so far this season, while Max added 7 goals and 5 assists. Asta and Hahn are both injured and will miss this game. Augsburg is pretty far away from the relegation zone, and I think they will stay in Bundesliga next season as well, but this 12th place is their maximum as they lack consistency and more offensive firepower. Overall, Augsburg is a decent team, but still below average in Bundesliga, the good thing is that they are not the only bellow average team in Bundesliga.
Paderborn is the least talented team in Bundesliga and unfortunately for them, I think that Paderborn will get relegated this season. Paderborn hasn’t won any of their last 8 games, while they won only 1 of their last 10 games. Paderborn is in the last place in the standings with only 18 points, 31 scored goals, and 55 conceded goals. For Paderborn to get out of the relegation zone, a miracle should happen, and not only one. Srbeny and Mamba are Paderborn’s leading goal scorers with 5 goals each, while Proger added 6 assists. Kilian is the only injured player for Paderborn, and he will miss this match. Defensively, Paderborn has not been playing well and they have conceded at least 1 goal in 9 of their last 10 games. In their latest match in Bundesliga against Hoffenheim at home, Paderborn has had 38% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 80% of the correct passes, and 2 corner kicks. Paderborn got behind early in the first half, but just 5 minutes after conceding a goal, Paderborn has tied the game. The result didn’t change until the end of the game, and this match ended in 1-1 draw. Paderborn is 9 points away from the safe zone but considering that they are the weakest team of all the teams that are fighting to stay in Bundesliga, I’m not giving Paderborn a lot of chances to stay in Bundesliga.
When playing at home, Augsburg has not lost to Paderborn in their last 3 games. Both Augsburg and Paderborn are in terrible forms, but Augsburg is the better team here. I think Augsburg will string 2 wins together after a long time.
