1899 Hoffenheim is hosting RB Leipzig at PreZero Arena in a derby match of round 31 in German Bundesliga.
Hoffenheim has improved their form as of late and they are now on a 4-game streak without a loss. With 43 points, 42 scored goals, and huge 50 conceded goals, Hoffenheim is in 7th place in the standings, just 2 points behind Wolfsburg and the Europa League. Hoffenheim is in a bit of a shock right now as they fired their head coach earlier this week, but this could have a positive impact on players ahead of this match. I wasn’t expecting that Schreauder will stay as the head coach next season, but I also didn’t expect that he will get fired just four games before the end of the season. In their last match in Bundesliga against Fortuna on the road last weekend, Hoffenheim was terrible with only 33% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, and 71% of accurate passes. Hoffenheim has conceded a goal in 5th minute and then conceded a red card in the 9th minute. In the 16th minute, Hoffenheim has tied the game and that was the result of the half time. In the 61st minute, Hoffenheim has scored a goal and got ahead, but they couldn’t defend with a player less and they conceded a goal in 76th minute. This match ended in a 2-2 draw. Hoffenheim’s defense is their biggest problem this season, and I believe that was the main reason why their head coach was fired. Was this the right more, we will see, but no one serious will take over the team just 4 games before the end of the season.
Leipzig hasn’t lost any of their last 12 games, but they are wildly inconsistent, especially in the attacking end, despite scoring a goal in their last 6 games. Leipzig has also conceded at least 1 goal in 4 of their last 5 games. With 59 points, Leipzig is in 3rd place in the standings, but both M’gladbach and Leverkusen are only 3 points behind them, and this battle for the last three Champions League spots is super exciting. Leipzig is one of the best offensive teams in Germany with 75 scored goals in 30 games, but they have been struggling in some of their last 4 games. In their most recent match in Bundesliga against Paderborn at home, Leipzig has had 51% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and 78% of the correct passes. Leipzig was leading 1-0 at the half time, but they also conceded a red card because of the stupidity from Upamecano. Leipzig was defending really well with 10 players, but Paderborn has scored a goal in 92nd minute and this match ended in a 1-1 draw. Timo Werner has scored 25 goals this season, while Schick added 10 goals for Leipzig. Nkunku added 14 assists. Leipzig has plenty of talent on both ends, but they will be left without Werner for next season who is leaving for Chelsea most likely. With a little bit of focus in these last 4 games, Leipzig will be able to stay in third place and get qualified for the Champions League.
Kramaric is Hoffenheim’s top goalscorer with 7 goals, and he has just recovered from the injury, which is great news for Hoffenheim, But Leipzig is in a better form, and they have more quality in their roster. Both Hoffenheim and Leipzig have a few injuries, but nothing serious. This should be an interesting game that could go either way, but both teams are scoring and conceding goals left and right. Taking everything into consideration, I will stick to goals here.
