Bournemouth is welcoming Crystal Palace to Vitality Stadium in part of round 30 of the English Premier League.
Bournemouth is not having a good season, and considering they have been much better last season, 16 losses this season is a disaster. Bournemouth is in 18th place with 27 points, only 29 scored goals, and 47 conceded goals. Bournemouth has won only 1 of their last 5 games and has conceded at least 2 goals in 4 of said 5 games. But a piece of good news is that Bournemouth has scored in 4 of those 5 games. Callum Wilson is the top goal scorer for Bournemouth with 8 goals, while Harry Wilson added 7 goals. Ryan Fraser has added 4 assists. Brooks, Daniels, Kelly, and Borus are all injured and will not be playing in this match. In their last EPL match against Liverpool on the road, Bournemouth has had extremely low 26% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 61% of accurate passes. Bournemouth got the lead in the 9th minute, but before the half-time was over, Liverpool turned the game around. Bournemouth has lost this match 1-2. The bad news for Bournemouth is that they are in the relegation zone, and none of the other teams playing for their lives are any worse than Bournemouth. It’s going to be a bumpy rest of the season for Bournemouth.
Crystal Palace was on a nice, 3-game winning streak before the season was paused, and thanks to that, Palace has climbed the standings to 11th place, and 39 points. With only 26 goals scored, Palace is one of the worst offensive teams in the EPL, but their defense has been decent with only 32 conceded goals. In their last EPL match before the break against Watford at home, Crystal Palace has had 44% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, and 72% of the correct passes. Crystal Palace has won this match 1-0. Jordan Ayew has scored 8 goals for Crystal Palace this season, while Zaha has scored only 3 goals, and considering he is supposed to be the best player on this team, that is simply not enough. Sakho, Meyer, and van Aanholt are all injured. Crystal Palace is facing Liverpool after this match and considering Liverpool needs points to secure the title, I’m not sure Palace can get points then, but they certainly can in this match against weak Bournemouth. I don’t think Crystal Palace will get anywhere close to the Europa League, but they do have enough quality to stay outside the relegation zone.
Bournemouth has had some success against Crystal Palace at home, but they were in a terrible form before the season was paused. We can’t know how will either of the teams react in a first game after a 3-month long break, but I’m not expecting an overly attractive game. I will take a shot at a draw for plus money.
