Watford is hosting Leicester City at Vicarage Road in part of round 30 in the English Premier League.
Watford is struggling massively this season, on both ends. Despite having a solid and talented team, Watford has scored only 27 goals in 29 games, while conceding 44 goals. With 27 points, Watford is in 17th place, outside the relegation zone, but still very much in danger. In their friendly match against Brentford last week, Watford has won that game 2-0. Of their last 4 EPL games, Watford has won only 1, and that was against Liverpool at home. In their most recent EPL match against Crystal Palace on the road over three months ago, Watford has had 56% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, and 75% of the correct passes. Watford has had a few good chances in this match, but they weren’t able to use any of those, and in the end, Watford has lost this match 1-0. Troy Deeney is Watford’s captain and the leading goal scorer with 6 goals, while Sarr added 5 goals. Janmaat and Deulofeu are both important players for Watford but they are injured and will not be in the lineup. Nigel Pearson is a solid coach, and Watford is a solid team, but they are not doing the best they can this season, but I hope they can change and stay in the EPL next season.
Once again, Leicester is having an amazing season and they are in 3rd place in the standings with 53 points, just 7 points away from Manchester City in second place. Leicester is playing fantastic defense and has conceded only 28 goals in 29 games this season, and with 58 scored goals, their offense is not too shabby either. Jamie Vardy is once again proving that he is one of the best and purest strikers in the EPL with 19 scored goals this season, while Perez added 7 goals. Harvey Barnes has 6 assists. Ricardo Pereira is the only injured player for Leicester City. In their most recent EPL match against Aston Villa at home, Leicester was fantastic with 64% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 9 corner kicks, and 82% of the correct passes. Leicester was dominant, focused, and precise and in the end, Leicester has won this match 4-0. There are still a lot of games left in the season and while the title is far, far away, Leicester can go up or down because Chelsea is only 5 points away from them. A few years ago, Leicester won the title by mostly playing the defense in every game at the highest level, but this season Leicester is playing both defense and offense, the difference is that other teams are playing better and that’s why Leicester is not closer to first place.
The home team has dominated this series and Watford hasn’t lost any of their last three games against Leicester. Watford is bad on the defensive end, and I think Leicester will know how to exploit that.
