Aston Villa is facing Chelsea at Villa Park in part of round 30 in the English Premier League.
Aston Villa hasn’t won any of their last 6 games, and they are in the relegation zone, 19th place with 26 points. Even though the safe zone is close, Villa’s schedule is not easy, and it will be hard for them to win enough points to stay in the EPL. In their first match back, Aston Villa was facing Sheffield United at home. Villa has had 45% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 12 corner kicks, and 79% of the correct passes. Aston Villa has created some chances in this game, but not enough to score a goal and this match ended in 0-0 draw. Offensively, Aston Villa is solid for a team at the bottom of the table with 34 scored goals, but their defense is the worst in the EPL with 56 conceded goals. Jack Grealish is the leading goal scorer for Aston Villa with 7 goals and 6 assists, while Wesley added 5 goals. There are no reported injuries or suspension in Aston Villa’s roster. There are a few teams fighting to get out or to stay out of the relegation zone, but I’m afraid Aston Villa is the weakest one of all of those teams. Of course, anything can happen, but I don’t see Aston Villa in the EPL next season.
Chelsea will look to continue their 3-game streak without a loss in the EPL, and they certainly have the quality to do it. In their last game in the EPL before the break, Chelsea was playing against Everton at home and has had 60% of ball possession, 11 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 89% of the correct passes. Everything Chelsea did in this match was good and they deservedly so won this game 4-0. In the EPL standings, Chelsea is in 4th place with 48 points, the last place that leads into the Champions League, but Manchester United and Sheffield are just 2, and 4 points away. With 51 scored goals this season, Chelsea is one of the best offensive teams in the EPL, but they can do so much better, and I think they will once Werner finishes his transfer from Leipzig to Chelsea at the end of the season. Now that Chelsea is finishing Werner’s transfer, they need to focus on their defense and bring in another 2 or 3 good defenders that will help them reduce the number of the conceded goals. Chelsea has conceded 39 goals in 29 games this season. Abraham is Chelsea’s top goalscorer with 13 goals, while Mount added 6 goals. Marco van Ginkel is still injured and he will not be playing again this season. Chelsea has a bright future ahead of them under coach Lampard, and with a few more additions to the team, I can see Chelsea even closer to the top of the table.
Aston Villa hasn’t won any of their last 6 games, and they haven’t won any of their last 5 games against Chelsea. The trends are heavily on Chelsea’s side, and despite Aston Villa already having a game in their feet, I see Chelsea winning this one.
