Lecce is welcoming Milan to Via del Mare in part of round 27 of the Italian Serie A.
Lecce is not a great team and they won only 25 points in 26 games, which is enough for 18th place in the standings, the relegation spot. Offensively, Lecce has been solid with 34 scored goals, the best of all the teams in the relegation zone, or near the relegation zone. Their defense on the other hand is the worst in Serie A with 56 conceded goals, an average of over 2 conceded goals per game. In their last two games in Serie A, before the season was paused, Lecce has conceded 11 goals, while scoring only 2 goals. Mancosu has scored 8 goals for Lecce this season, while Lapadula added 7 goals. There are no injuries in Lecce’s roster, but Donati is suspended and he will not be playing in this match. In their last Serie A game against Atalanta, Lecce has had a disastrous game with only 34% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and 72% of the correct passes. The first half ended in a 2-2 draw, but the second half belonged to Atalanta and they scored 5 more goals. Lecce has lost this game 2-7. Offensively, Lecce might be the best team in the relegation zone, but if they want to stay in Serie A, Lecce must improve their defense as soon as possible.
Milan has had some good games this season, but overall, their game has been pale for most of the season. With all the money invested in their team, Milan is not happy with the 8th place they are on right now with only 36 points. Milan has been extremely bad in the attacking end with only 28 scored goals, while they conceded 34 goals. In their Coppa Italia semifinals game against Juventus just over a week ago, Milan needed the win to advance to the finals, and if not for the stupidity of Rebic early in the first half, Milan might have actually got the win, but with the player less on the field, they weren’t successful and this match ended in a 0-0 draw. Juventus advanced to the finals. In their last Serie A game against Genoa at home, Milan has had 62% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and 84% of the correct passes. Despite dominating this game, Milan was able to score only 1 goal and they lost this game 1-2. Ante Rebic is the leading goal scorer for Milan with 6 goals, while Hernandez added 5 goals. Musacchio, Duarte, and Ibrahimovic are all injured and will not be in the lineup for this game. Milan has been a bad team for a few years now, and there is no light at the end of this tunnel without some major changes in and around the club. I’m sorry but I don’t see Milan getting to the Europa League spot this season.
The trends are on Milan’s side, but I’m not ready to stake money on this team. Lecce is not a good team, but they can certainly pair to this weak Milan.
