Norwich City host Everton in their second match back after the break on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. Will Norwich City be able to gain any points here as they are desperate to get out of the relegation zone, or will Everton put the final nail in the coffin?
Norwich's first match back was an absolute disappointment for them. Norwich City lost 3-0 to Southampton as they just got dismantled in the second half. Norwich seemed to be one of the best teams in the league at the beginning of the season, even being on top of the table after a few games. However, since the days of Norwich beating Manchester City, they have absolutely gone downhill. Norwich has incredible players such as Pukki upfront, however, they lack so much class in their midfield and defense. It is hard for me to see Norwich staying in the Premier League as they are bottom of the table with 21 points and 7 points away from safety.
Everton were very happy to come away with a draw against Liverpool on Sunday in the Merseyside Derby. Everton were being dominated in terms of possession, only having the ball around 30% of the time, but they were able to play extremely well defensively. That match against Liverpool will be a boost in confidence for Everton as they know how tough it is to keep a clean sheet against Liverpool. They can now use this confidence to take advantage of a terrible Norwich side.
Norwich have only won 5 games this season, but one of those victories came against Everton in the reverse fixture. Norwich are desperate for points here, and if this was at the beginning of the season, I would give them a chance to get a draw or win. However, Norwich is just terrible at the moment. Everton will use their defensive ability to maintain Norwich away from goal, and then they will use the likes of Richarlison to take advantage of the gaps in the opposition. It could be a tight match, but Everton are the better side at the end of the day.
