Burnley host Watford in their second match back after the break, as both teams look to bounce back after a tough first match back. Will Watford further distance themselves from the relegation zone, or will Burnley bounce back after a 5-0 defeat against Manchester City?
Burnley was utterly destroyed by Manchester City on Monday, losing 5-0 to the Citizens. Burnley's defence was just not in sync and they allowed so many gaps which were exploited by the likes of Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez, and David Silva. Burnley are no match for a team like City and they showed us that on Monday. Burnley are currently sitting in 11th place, 1 point behind Arsenal. That is not a bad spot for a team like Burnley and they don't really have anything to play for this season. They are 5 points behind a Europa League spot, and unfortunately for them, I do not see them being good enough to make up those points in the last 8 games of the season.
Watford were able to scrape a draw against Leicester City in their first match back. The match against the foxes was extremely tight and saw two goals after the 90th minute. Leicester was the better side during the match, but both teams just did not take advantage of the opportunities they had in the box. Watford were and are still in desperate need for points, and it was looking terrible for them at the end of the match, when Ben Chilwell scored in the 90th minute. However, Watford kept going and were able to score a 93rd-minute equaliser to secure a point from the match.
The reverse fixture was a nightmare for Watford, as they lost 3-0 to Burnley away from home. Watford are a very important Premier League team, perhaps not in terms of table position, but in terms of history, and they do not deserve to be relegated. Watford has more to lose in this match and that is why I think they are going to come out determined to get some points. Watford can win against Burnley, and they will as they need the points to move further away from the relegation zone.
