Juventus is welcoming Lecce to Allianz Stadium in round 28 of Italian Serie A.
After their first two games without a win since the restart, Juventus has finally had a decent game against Bologna in Serie A this past weekend. Juventus has had 53% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and 84% of the correct passes. With goals from Ronaldo and Dybala in the first half, Juventus has won this game 0-2. Juventus now has 66 points and is in first place in the standings, but Lazio is 4 points away and has one game less. Juventus isn’t bad on either end this season, they scored 52 goals in 27 games, while they conceded only 24 goals in 27 games, only Lazio has been better this season. Ronaldo has scored 22 goals so far this season, while Dybala added 8 goals. Bentancur has 6 assists. Demiral, Khedira, and Sandro are all injured, while Higuain is still questionable. Losing the Coppa Italia finals to Lazio was quite the disappointment for Juventus, Ronal especially, but the season goes on and Juventus must stay focused if they want to stay ahead of Lazio and defend the title. Juventus is not as dominant as they were for years before, but the thing is they are not worse, Lazio, Inter, Roma, Atalanta, and Napoli are all better teams then they were before. Juventus might be on top now, but I don’t think they will defend the title this season.
Lecce is one of the weakest teams in Serie A, and they lost their last 3 Serie A games, 2 since the restart. During this bad stretch, Lecce has conceded 15 goals, while scoring only 3 goals. With only 25 points, Lazio is in 18th place, which is in the relegation zone, but the good news is that Lecce has the same amount as Genoa outside the relegation zone. Offensively, Lecce has been solid with 35 scored goals, but their defense has been criminally bad and the worst in Serie A with 60 conceded goals. In their last Serie A game against Milan at home, I was expecting a better performance from Lecce, but they had only 38% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 84% of the correct passes. Lecce has lost this match 1-4. Mancosu has scored 9 goals for Lecce so far this season, while Lapadula added 7 goals. Falco and Petriccione both have 4 assists. Farias, Dell’Orco, Barak, and Deriola are all injured and none of them will be playing in this game. There is hope yet for Lecce, but for them to stay in Serie A next season, Lecce must improve their defense, a lot, and even though there is still enough time left for them to climb out of the relegation zone, I think it will be super hard for Lecce because mostly every other team in Serie A is better than Lecce.
Now that they have finally tasted a victory, I can see Juventus’ game improving. Juventus has not lost to Lecce in their last 6 home games, while Lecce has lost their last 3 straight games. I think Juventus gets an easy win here.
