Celta Vigo is welcoming Barcelona to Municipal de Balaidos in round 32 of Spanish LaLiga.
Celta is finally showing a part of their talent, and they won their last two straight games. During this stretch, Celta has scored 7 goals and conceded 0 goals. With these two wins, Celta has made some distance between them and the relegation zone. There is hope for Celta yet. With 33 points, Celta is now in 16th place. In their last LaLiga game against Real Sociedad, Celta has had 42% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 3 corner kicks, and 74% of the correct passes. Celta was good in this game, especially on the defensive end. With a goal from a penalty kick in the first half, Celta has won this game 0-1. Iago Aspas has scored 11 goals for Celta this season, while Denis Suarez added 5 assists. Alvarez and Junca are injured. Celta is in a good form and they lost only 1 of their last 9 games, but their offense is still not in a good mood as Celta scored only 29 goals this season, but they are getting there and I see Celta staying in LaLiga next season as well.
Barcelona hasn’t lost any of their last 4 games since the season restart, but aside from their first game a couple of weeks ago, Barcelona hasn’t been convincing in any other of their games. The good news for Barcelona is that they didn’t concede any goals during this stretch. Messi has scored 21 goals and added 15 assists, while Suarez added 11 goals and added 8 assists, but he is struggling and still didn’t score a goal since the season restart. Dembele, Roberto, and De Jong are all injured and will not be playing in this game. There have been some deadlines in Spanish newspapers this week that Messi and Griezmann apparently had a fight at Barcelona’s practice, and none of them denied it, but I’ve seen them playing together in their last game and it looked fine, but of course, they would be good at hiding that kind of stuff for the sake of the team. Since Griezmann came to Barcelona, big things were expected from him, and he had some great moments but is struggling with adapting to Barcelona’s game and I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves for some other team at the end of the season. In their last LaLiga game against Athletic Bilbao at home, Barcelona was dominant with 72% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 87% of the correct passes. It seems like Barcelona played a fantastic game, but they were slow and sloppy, but they still ended up winning this game 1-0. Once again, Barcelona is behind Real Madrid in the standings, but they have the same amount of points, 68. This season is something Barcelona didn’t have to deal with it the last few years because they had a point advantage against Real Madrid at this point, and the title is suddenly in danger. We will see if coach Setien can get his team out of this slow period Barcelona is in.
Celta has won their last home game against Barcelona, and they had plenty of success at home in the past. Messi is on the verge of scoring his 700th goal for Barcelona in LaLiga, but he is struggling with that in his last two games. Celta is in a good form, but I don’t think they can keep another clean sheet. I think Barcelona is the one that gets the win here.
