Leicester City host Chelsea in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. Will the foxes be able to get back on track after a slow restart to the season or will Chelsea put in another solid performance as they did earlier in the week against Manchester City?
Leicester City have been a bit slow coming out of the gate since the restart of the Premier League. The foxes have drawn two of their matches against Watford and Burnley, and have allowed for teams like Chelsea to get closer to that 3rd spot in the league table. However, this is the FA Cup and Leicester has been great in this competition. Leicester came through against Birmingham in the Round of 16 to book their spot in the quarterfinal, and they had to wait until the 82nd minute to get their winner. Leicester knows they will have to up their tempo and aggression in play if they are going to beat Chelsea, but we are talking about one of the best teams in the league here, so it is not impossible.
Chelsea was absolutely superb earlier this week against Manchester City, defeating City 2-1 to hand Liverpool the 2019/20 Premier League title. Chelsea seemed to also be coming out of the gate slowly since the restart, but that victory over City definitely gave them a boost in momentum and confidence. Chelsea are a dangerous team, especially with the likes of Cristian Pulisic, Tammy Abraham, and Mason Mount. The blues will want to come out and win the FA Cup this season, and they have a lot of strong players behind them.
These two sides met earlier this year in the Premier League where they drew 2-2. Back then, Leicester was in much better form and it has been hard to see the foxes struggling in their encounters after the restart. Leicester are a solid team, and a Premier League-winning team, however, it is hard to see them beating Chelsea at the moment. Chelsea were amazing against Manchester City, and I am sure Frank Lampard will put out his best team to ensure an easy win for the blues.
