Napoli is welcoming Spal to Stadio San Paolo in round 28 in Italian Serie A.
Napoli is a fantastic team led by Gattuso, former AC Milan player and legend who brought a certain dose of charisma that Napoli was missing before, and it helped them a lot. Napoli is on an 8-game streak without a loss, and they have won the Coppa Italia competition against Juventus last week. With 42 points, Napoli is in 6th place and they have scored 43 goals so far this season while conceding 36 goals, not bad, but it could be a lot better. In their first Serie A game since late February, Napoli was playing against Verona and was the better team in that match with 55% of ball possession, 8 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 86% of the correct passes. Napoli has won this match 0-2. Malcuit is still injured, but he is at the end of his recovery from a knee injury and he should be back on the field in a week. Milik has scored 10 goals for Napoli this season, while Mertens added 6 goals, while Callejon and Insigne have 6 assists each. Napoli is playing well, but I’m afraid that the Champions League spot is too far away, huge 12 points, and with the way Atalanta is playing, I don’t see them losing that spot.
Spal is one of the weakest teams in Serie A, and I’m afraid they will get relegated. The safe zone is 7 points away, but Spal is in a bad form and they are not playing well. Spal is the worst offensive team in Serie A with only 20 scored goals, while their defense hasn’t been a disaster, but it also hasn’t been particularly good with 45 conceded goals. Spal has won their last game in Serie A before the break, but their first game after the restart didn’t go so well. Spal was hosting Cagliari a few days ago and they had 51% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, and 85% of the correct passes. This was a decent match for Spal, but they conceded a goal in 93rd minute and lost this game 0-1. If Spal had won this game, they would have been only 4 points away from the safe zone, but seeing their schedule in the next few games, it will be extremely hard for Spal to catch up and get out of the relegation zone. Petagna is the top goal scorer for Spal with 11 goals. Berisha, Di Franceso, and Zukanovic are all injured, and they will not be playing in this game. Overall, Spal is having a bad season and I just don’t have confidence that they can pull out some miracle and get out of the relegation zone. See you in Serie B next season Spal.
Napoli hasn’t lost any of their last 8 games, and they are the better team here by far. This is a no brainer for me, Napoli has to keep winning if they want to have a chance of getting to the Champions League, and I think they will start here.
