Newcastle United host Manchester City on Sunday, June 28th 2020 for the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. Will City bounce back after a horrible defeat to Chelsea earlier in the week in the Premier League, or will Newcastle kick the 2018/19 champions out of the FA Cup?
Newcastle have had some positive results coming out of the break in the Premier League, beating the likes of Sheffield United and drawing against Aston Villa. Newcastle is going to be a big team in a few years after being acquired by new owners, and they will surely move up the table with bigger spending throughout the summer. However, Newcastle at the moment are more of a hit and miss team. The Geordies beat West Bromwich Albion in the Round of 16 in what was a rollercoaster of emotions. Newcastle were winning the match 3-0, and eventually were trying to hold at the end of the match as it came close to a draw at 3-2. Newcastle is very unlikely to beat City, but they are a tough team who does not give up.
Manchester City were very disappointed on Wednesday, losing to Chelsea 2-1, and getting one of their vital defenders, Fernandinho sent off in the Premier League. City, however, have been unstoppable in the FA Cup. City are definitely the favourites to win the silverware in this competition and they have been the most dominant team in the last few years. City are looking to bounce back after that horrible defeat to Chelsea, and they would love to meet them further down the line in the FA Cup to get their revenge.
Manchester City are going to win this match, and I think they are going to win it in stupendous fashion. City will want to come out and show us that their performance against Chelsea was a fluke. Expect the likes of Foden, Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus, and Raheem Sterling keen to get on the scoresheet. This match, like many other City FA Cup performances, will be a blowout. Perhaps it will be 3-1, 4-0 or 5-0, but I expect goals.
