Crystal Palace hosts Burnley on Monday 29th June 2020 in what is going to be a very tight encounter at Selhurst Park. Both these teams are sat at 42 points, with the off chance of being able to get close to a Europa League spot, who will gain some momentum on Monday?
Crystal Palace got absolutely destroyed on Wednesday by Liverpool at Anfield, losing 4-0 to the Champions. You cannot really blame Crystal Palace for losing that much to Liverpool as the Scouse team has just been absolutely incredible this season. Crystal Palace's main man, Wilfred Zaha, had to be substituted out quite early in the first half and it is still yet unsure if he will be playing on Monday. Palace are a team which can turn it on at any moment, and they have caused big upsets against big teams in the past. It will be interesting to see if they can perform well on Monday against a confident Burnley team.
Burnley bounced back after losing 5-0 to Manchester City on Monday, to win against Watford 1-0 on Thursday. Burnley are a solid team that will always give a tough time to the middle table clubs. Burnley has a very good defense and ability to maintain possession, their only issue is that they do not have that ability to move up the field quickly. The Burnley attackers are not very solid or consistent, and this has proven to be an issue for them all season.
The reverse fixture earlier this season went the way of Crystal Palace who won 2-0. That match was mainly dominated by Burnley, who shot 12 times, 6 of which were on goal. Crystal Palace only had 6 shots, 3 on target, and were able to score in the 46th and 78th minute to steal the match. I think Crystal Palace have a point to prove after losing to Liverpool 4-0 and they will not take this match lightly. I expect a tight game, but one in which one or two Burnley mistakes will give Palace the ability to take the victory and move up the table.
