Everton host Leicester City at Goodison Park in the 32nd match of the Premier League 2019/20 season. Will Leicester finally get a win after 2 draws and a loss since the restart, or will Everton move get closer to the top half of the league table?
Everton has had a good time since the restart of the Premier League, having played 2 games, winning one and drawing one. Everton drew 0-0 at Goodison Park against Liverpool. Not losing to Liverpool this season has only been done by 3 teams as Liverpool have won all their games except for 2 draws and 1 loss. Everton then used that confidence at the back to defeat Norwich City 1-0 last Wednesday. Everton have an incredibly talented team, with the likes of Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin, Bernard, Gomes, and Holdgate. It is shocking to see them in 12th place as they have always been a team in the top 6/7 of the league.
Leicester City have not been their usual self since the restart of the Premier League. The foxes have played 2 Premier League matches, both of which were draws. Their first match was a tight match with Watford, where Leicester took the lead in the late 80s, but allowed Watford to score a last-minute equalizer. In their last Premier League match, Leicester were lucky that Brighton's Neil Maupay did not score his penalty in the first half, as the foxes hung on to a 0-0 draw. To make matters worse, on Sunday, Leicester lost 1-0 to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals. This is not the foxes we know and they need a bounce-back victory here at Goodison Park, something they are very capable of doing.
The reverse fixture between these two teams was a very fun encounter. Everton took the lead in the 23rd minute with a Richarlison goal, however, Leicester turned on the engines in the second half and scored in the 68th and in the 96th minute to steal the victory. Leicester had 70% possession and 7 shots on target, but they definitely had fun scoring at the last second to win it. I think this match plays out differently. Leicester will win it, but I think in a more dominant fashion. Leicester need to maintain their Champions League spot and they do not want to slip up again. This is going to be a 1-0 or 2-0 Leicester win in my opinion.
