Fiorentina is hosting Sassuolo at Stadio Artemio Franchi in round 29 of Italian Serie A.
Fiorentina just can’t get the hang of their form and they haven’t won any of their last two Serie A games, but one piece of the good news for Fiorentina is that they scored at least one goal in both of their games since the restart. Fiorentina is in 13th place in the standings with 31 points, 34 scored goals, and 39 conceded goals. There are worse defenses than Fiorentina’s, but they really need to work on their offense because Fiorentina certainly has enough quality to score a lot more goals. Vlahovic and Chiesa are Fiorentina’s top goal scorers with 6 goals each, while Pulgar added 4 goals and 4 assists. Kouame is injured, Caceres and Vlahovic are suspended because of the red cards. In their last Serie A game against Lazio, Fiorentina has had 45% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, and 82% of the correct passes. Fiorentina had the lead at the half-time, but Lazio turned the game around in the second half and Fiorentina lost this match 2-1. This was a rough game where we saw a lot of yellow cards and a red card in the 95th minute. I just can’t believe how bad is Fiorentina playing with all the talent they have on their roster. They have secured their Serie A spot for next season, but Fiorentina must make some changes before the next season if they want to do better.
Sassuolo has played 3 games since the restart and has scored 7 goals during that stretch while conceding 10 goals. Sassuolo is in 12th place in the standings with 34 points, 48 scored goals, and 49 conceded goals. Sassuolo is doing well in the offensive end, but their defense could be better, because, without a better defense, Sassuolo will not get any higher in the standings. In their last Serie A game against Verona at home, Sassuolo was the much better team with huge 69% of ball possession, huge 9 shots on goal, 12 corner kicks, and 85% of the correct passes. The first half ended in a 0-0 draw, but the second half was absolutely spectacular. Verona got ahead in 51st minute, but in 53rd minute Sassuolo tied the game. Verona scored 2 more goals, in 57th and 68th minute. In the 77th minute, Sassuolo cut the lead to only 1 goal, and in the 97th minute, they were able to score another goal. This fantastic match ended in a 3-3 draw. Caputo has scored 14 goals for Sassuolo, while Berardi and Boga both added 10 goals. Romagna and Toljan are both injured. Same as Fiorentina, there is a lot of talent in Sassuolo, but they need to get to the higher level on the defensive end, and only after that, Sassuolo can look further than 10th place.
Fiorentina hasn’t won any of their last 4 games. Both Fiorentina and Sassuolo and continuously scoring goals, but they are also conceding goals. Taking everything into consideration, I will pick something on goals here.
