Chelsea host Watford on Saturday, July 4th at Stamford Bridge in what needs to be a solid bounceback performance from the London Blues.
Chelsea was absolutely terrible on Wednesday against West Ham. Chelsea controlled the possession of the match, with over 70% possession, however, after the first 20 minutes where it looked like an easy Chelsea victory, everything changed. When West Ham began to get the ball back, they were quick and agile to get on the counter-attack. Chelsea went 1-0 with a Willian penalty towards the end of the first half, and 3 minutes later West Ham equalized. In the second half, West Ham scored in the 51st minute and Chelsea eventually equalized in the 72nd minute with a Willian free-kick. Chelsea then looked to once again be in control of the match, until the 89th minute when Yarmolenko stunned the London Blues and won the match for West Ham 3-2. Chelsea had more possession, more shots on target, and more chances to win it, but still blew it. They will need a bounceback performance here to get their spirits up.
Watford has not been in the best form since coming out of the break, drawing one match and losing all of their others. Watford desperately needs points as they are in the relegation zone. Watford will be inspired by the West Ham victory, showing us that Chelsea can be beaten, however, they know it is going to be a huge task for them. Watford are coming off a 3-1 loss to Southampton where they just seemed in terrible form.
The reverse fixture of this match went the way of Chelsea with a 2-1 victory. Chelsea will be determined to bounce back from that terrible loss and I imagine Lampard's men will pounce on every opportunity to score. This match is going to be a 2-0 or 3-0 victory for Chelsea in my opinion and they will not allow Watford to score. Watford will have to find their highly needed points from somewhere else because Chelsea won't give them any. Take Chelsea -1.5 to be safe on a 2-0 victory.
