Burnley host Sheffield United on Sunday, July 5th at Turf Moor. Sheffield United are trying to maintain their hopes of making a European spot for next season, but will Burnley ruin their chances?
Sheffield United put on an incredible performance against Tottenham earlier in the week, beating the lilywhites 3-1. Tottenham was the rightful favorite before the match started, but they were quickly shut down by Sheffield. Sheffield scored the first goal in the 31st minute, and then Harry Kane scored an equalizer two minutes later which was eventually removed as VAR showed a handball by Lucas Moura. Sheffield went 3-0 by the 84th minute and then Harry Kane got a consolation goal in the 90th minute, ending the game 3-1. Sheffield have been a superb team all season and they should not be underestimated. They have real hope of making the Europa League or the Champions League and they will want to win every match they play until the end of the season.
Burnley is also coming off a victory, having beat Crystal Palace 1-0 earlier in the week. Burnley, although they have had some positive results since the return of the Premier League, is very hurt as a team. Most of their players are injured and they do not have many options coming off the bench. Burnley is safe from the relegation zone and is too far from the European spots, making them having not much to play for. Burnley are not expected of doing much in this match.
The reverse fixture of this match was a solid 3-0 Sheffield United victory in which Burnley had no chance of getting anything out of the match. Burnley are heavily injured, have nothing to play for, and are not a good as Sheffield United in general. Sheffield United are the better team, have had some positive results such as their 3-1 win against Tottenham, and are very motivated to maintain their spot in the Premier League. I think Sheffield wins this one easy, and the +170 on the Money Line is + money which is a shocking line as they should be considered heavy favorites.
