Newcastle United host West Ham on Sunday, July 5th at St. James' Park in what is going to be a very tight encounter.
West Ham are coming off a stunning upset on Wednesday against Chelsea. West Ham beat Chelsea 3-2 in what was a terrible performance by the London Blues. West Ham saw the opportunity to take advantage of Chelsea's nonchalant backline which did not seem to think a West Ham counter-attack was a threat. West Ham came back from 1-0 down to win the match in the 87th minute and shock the entire Premier League. This victory has allowed West Ham to further themselves from the relegation zone and they are not as scared of losing a match or two from now on because of that positive result. However, after such a good performance against a top team, West Ham are surely very confident in their ability to continue to use their momentum.
Newcastle United have just come off an incredible destruction of Bournemouth. Newcastle beat Bournemouth 4-1 and just did not take their foot off the gas. Within the first half, Newcastle had already put the game to bed and did not look back since. Newcastle does not have much to play for, but they showed us their determination to win even with a lack of motivation. Newcastle are a team to look out for in these last few weeks of the Premier League.
The reverse fixture between these two teams ended in a 3-2 victory for Newcastle United. Newcastle has less to play for than West Ham as they are much further from the relegation zone, but that does not mean they won't give it their all. On the other hand, West Ham may have gotten a vital 3 points from Chelsea, but they know the job is not done. This match is going to be extremely tight and I think it could be a very low scoring match as well. Both teams will be happy to walk away with a point from this match and I wouldn't be shocked if it is a 1-1 draw between both sides.
