Levante is welcoming Real Sociedad to Estadio Camilo Cano in round 34 in Spanish LaLiga.
Levante has had their moments this season and they have been playing well since the restart. Levante has 2 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss in their last 4 games since the restart. Levante is safe in 12th place with 42 points, far from the relegation zone, but also far from the Europa League. Overall, Levante can be proud of their season, they weren’t the best, but they are far from the worst team in LaLiga. In their latest LaLiga game against Valladolid on the road, Levante was solid with 54% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and 83% of the correct passes. Levante conceded a penalty kick in 97th minute, but their goalkeeper stepped up and made a fantastic save. This match ended in a 0-0 draw. Levante has scored 41 goals this season, and Marti scored 11 of those goals, while Mayoral added 7 goals. Jose Campana assisted for 7 goals. Lopez is still injured, while Melero is questionable. Bardhi is suspended because of the yellow cards. Levante’s defense hasn’t been particularly good this season with 46 conceded goals, but it’s been good enough to stay out of the relegation zone, and even though Levante had a chance to get to the Europa League, the middle of the table is their maximum this season.
After the first five games after the restart without a win, Sociedad has finally beat someone, the weakest team in LaLiga, Espanyol. Sociedad was dominant in this match against Espanyol with 63% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 83% of the correct passes. Sociedad was losing 0-1 at the half-time, but in the second half, Sociedad was playing better soccer and they were able to turn the game around. The final score was 2-1 for Real Sociedad. With this win, Sociedad was able to stay within the Europa League reach, in 7th place with 50 points, just 2 points behind Getafe who are in the last spot that leads to the Europa League. With 50 scored goals so far, Sociedad is among the best offensive teams in LaLiga this season, but they have been struggling to show that power as of late. Jose has scored 10 goals for Sociedad, while Oyarzabal added 9 goals and 10 assists, and Isak has 8 goals. Guevara, Sangalli, Illarramendi, Januzaj, and Bautista are all injured, while Barrenetxea is still questionable. Hopefully, this latest win means that Sociedad is going to go to another direction for the rest of the season and that they will be able to get to the Europa League because they are a good team and Sociedad deserves to be there.
The trends are mixed here, and even though Sociedad is a slightly better team, I’m not ready to completely side with them. Sociedad conceded a goal against the weakest team in LaLiga in their previous game, and for that reason, I will pick something on goals here.
