Tottenham Hotspur host Everton on Monday, July 6th at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Both teams are 10th and 11th in the league respectively, but which team will move up on the league table on Monday?
Tottenham Hotspur was just embarrassed after their most recent match, losing 3-1 to Sheffield United. Tottenham were not there to play, they just showed up thinking they'd get the 3 points easily and Sheffield did not even give them a chance. Sheffield went 3-0 and then decided to relax, allowing Tottenham's main striker, Harry Kane, to get a consolation goal. Tottenham were one of the teams which looked very likely to claim Europa League spots, perhaps even Champions League spots. However, since the restart, they have not been on top of their game as much as they should have. Tottenham are either a hit or miss, and with the North London Derby looming over them soon, they will want to get a solid performance under their belt beforehand.
Everton has been very solid since the restart of the Premier League, getting some tough matches under their belt. Everton most recently beat 3rd place in the league, Leicester City in a solid 2-1 victory. Everton seem as if they are turning a page in their recent bad luck and they look set to get back on track for top 6/7 next season. Everton know how to defend and how to quickly get on the counter-attack. Tottenham will find it hard to stop the likes of Richarlison.
The reverse fixture between these two teams ended in a 1-1 draw, and to be quite frank, I see the same here. Tottenham have not shown much to make me back them in their recent matches, and Everton have shown a lot of class in their recent matches. Tottenham is obviously the better team, but if I put them against each other, Everton is in better form. I think it is going to be tight, with both teams having chances, but at the end of the day, Tottenham are not strong-minded enough to take home all 3 points. Give me the draw at +245.
