Celta Vigo is welcoming Atletico Madrid to Municipal de Balaidos in round 35 in Spanish LaLiga.
Celta has been good since the restart, but even despite that, they are still in danger of being relegated. Celta is in 15th place with 35 points, 6 points above the relegation zone, and with only 4 games left in the season, I believe one more win should be enough for Celta to secure their LaLiga spot. Celta hasn’t won any of their last three games, but they have lost just one of their last 6 games in LaLiga. In their last LaLiga game against Betis at home, Celta has had 44% of ball possession, 1 shot on goal, 2 corner kicks, and 72% of the correct passes. With a goal in 22nd minute, Celta was ahead, and they were playing well, but in the 79th minute, Celta has conceded a goal, and this game ended in a 1-1 draw. Celta hasn’t scored a lot of goals, only 33 this season, and their defense has been sloppy in their last few games, but I think Celta will be able to stay in LaLiga because they are a decent team with some great players on their roster. Aspas has scored 13 goals for Celta this season, while Suarez has 5 assists. Suarez, Junca, and Alvarez are all injured for Celta Vigo.
Atletico is in an excellent form since the restart, and they showed us that they are not just a defensive team, but that they can also score goals. With 62 points, 46 scored goals, and only 25 conceded goals, Atletico Madrid is in 3rd place in the standings. In their last LaLiga game against Mallorca at home, Atletico has had 48% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 85% of the correct passes. It was the usual game for Atletico where they left the opponent to have the majority of the possession, while they waited for their chances. Atletico was incredibly effective in this game and they scored 3 goals from 3 shots on goal. Atletico Madrid has won this game 3-0. Morata is Atletico’s top goalscorer with 11 goals, while Felix and Niguez added 6 goals. Koke and Correa both have 5 assists. Vrsaljo is still injured and he will not be playing again this season, while Felipe and Hermoso are still questionable. Atletico has 5 wins and 2 draws in their last 7 games since the restart, and to be honest, I don’t see how they could lose a game looking at their schedule. Sure, Atletico is playing against some solid teams, but being in the form they are now, Atletico would be hard to beat against much stronger teams in LaLiga. The second place is out of reach, but Atletico can still lose their third place theoretically, but I don’t see it happening.
This one could go either way because Celta has had some success against Atletico at home. I don’t like playing under, but this game could be just it. With VAR in play, just one penalty is enough for the game to go over, and for that reason, I will side with Atletico Madrid in this game.
