Brighton hosts Liverpool on Wednesday, July 8th at Falmer Stadium. Will Liverpool get a win in their aim to reach 100 points in the Premier League, or will Brighton hurt their chances?
Brighton beat Norwich City 1-0 in their last Premier League match, and they have been in quite solid form since the restart. Brighton is currently 15th in the Premier League and 9 points ahead of the relegation zone, and therefore do not have much threat of being relegated. Brighton have had some big wins under their belt as of recent, such as their win against Arsenal 2-1 a few weeks ago. Brighton are not to be underestimated as they can take advantage of gaps against good teams. Brighton may want to cement themselves in history by taking a point or more off of the Premier League Champions Liverpool.
Liverpool's most recent match was on Sunday against Aston Villa. Liverpool did not control this match in their usual dominant fashion and it actually took them until the 71st minute to score the opener. Aston Villa was defending incredibly well and it looked like they could get something from the match. However, when Liverpool needed it most, they turned their engines on. Liverpool ended up winning the match 2-0 with goals from Sadio Mane and Curtis Jones, but they showed us that they are taking these last few games very calmy and not giving it their all as they did for the entire rest of the season.
The reverse fixture between these two teams ended in a 2-1 Liverpool victory at Anfield. Playing Liverpool at Anfield is a tough ask, and to even get a goal is even tougher. I think Brighton have a chance here to steal a point. It is clear that Liverpool are not going to give it their all to win their last 5 matches, and I am sure Brighton would want to be one of the few teams this season to take 1 or more points off of the champions. The draw at +330 looks like a good line and I would take it.
