Bournemouth host Tottenham on Thursday, July 9th at Vitality Stadium in a battle for Europa League against relegation.
Tottenham Hotspur is coming off a 1-0 tight victory against Everton earlier in the week. Tottenham were very lucky to win that match as the only goal came when Michael Keane scored an own goal as the shot hit by Harry Winks bounced off of him. The ball was not going into the net until it bounced off Keane and Tottenham made sure to hold on tightly to that lead to secure the victory. Tottenham were not outstanding in that match and it was shocking that Everton did not get on the scoreboard. Tottenham will need to be much better both on Thursday and on Sunday in their match against Arsenal. Tottenham are 2 points behind Arsenal who are in 7th place, meaning a victory here could put them above their rivals.
Bournemouth is destined for relegation it seems, having lost their last 5 matches. Bournemouth has 27 points and it 19th in the league. Bournemouth are desperate for points and unless they take advantage in these last 5 matches, we are saying goodbye to a team which has been in the Premier League for many of the last few seasons. Bournemouth lost an incredibly fun match to watch against Manchester United 5-2. Bournemouth opened the scoring in the first half, but by the end of the first half they had already conceded 3 goals to be down 3-1. United ran away with the victory and hurt Bournemouth's chances of getting out of the relegation zone.
Tottenham is favoured in the line, however, I see this match being very tight. The reverse fixture between these two teams ended in a 3-2 victory for Tottenham. Tottenham were extremely lucky to win against Everton, and unfortunately they are just not as good as they should be. Bournemouth have more to play for in my opinion and they will give it their all here. I expect a tight 1-1 or 2-2 draw here. Tottenham just seems to get lucky sometimes but it's not about their actual performance.
