Brighton host Manchester City on Saturday, July 11th at Bramall Lane in the 35th Premier League fixture of the season. Will City show up as they did against Newcastle and absolutely destroy Brighton, or will Brighton cause a shocking upset?
Brighton's last match was an easy loss to Liverpool earlier in the week, losing 3-1 to the champions. Brighton went 2-0 down within 8 minutes and the match was basically over since then. Although Brighton scored right before halftime, taking the game to 2-1, 30 minutes into the second half, the game was settled at 3-1 by Mohamed Salah who got a brace. Brighton has nothing to play for this season as they are too far from any European spots and they are way far from the relegation zone. Brighton is not going to give it their all here as they have nothing to play for, and this is very dangerous against a team like City.
Manchester City bounced back in incredible style earlier in the week by beating Newcastle United 5-0. Manchester City needed to show us why they are the favorites to win the Champions League after they lost 1-0 to Southampton and they did that against Newcastle. City were just controlling the match and did not give Newcastle any chances. City had 23 shots, 9 of which were on target, and they did not lift their foot of the gas. I think City are going to win the Premier League next season, and they are definitely the favourites alongside Bayern Munich to win the Champions League next month.
The reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a 4-0 Manchester City victory. Both teams have nothing to play for at the moment, but I am sure City wants to get their game to perfection before the Champions League restarts next month. I see City controlling this match, but not scoring 5 goals as they did earlier in the week. I expect this to be a 2-0 or 3-0 victory, but to be safe I think the -1.5 is a good bet. Take Manchester City -1.5 at -110.
