Juventus is hosting Atalanta at Allianz Stadium in a derby match of round 32 in Italian Serie A.
Juventus has been playing well since the restart, and they had 4 straight wins, until a few days ago when they got demolished by Milan. Juventus has had 52% of ball possession in that match, 4 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 88% of the correct passes. In the first half, teams were testing each other, and we haven’t seen anything exciting. In the second half, Juventus has the better start and they were able to score 2 goals in the first 10 minutes, but then Milan is scoring 3 goals in 5 minutes, and another one in the 80th minute for a final, 4-2 result and a fantastic win over their maybe, the biggest rival in Italy. Despite losing this match, Juventus is still at the top of the standings with 75 points, 7 points ahead of Lazio. Juventus is having the best defense in Serie A this season with only 30 conceded goals, while their offense has been good with 65 scored goals. Ronaldo has scored 26 goals for Juventus and is getting close to Immobile who is the top goalscorer in Serie A with 29 goals, while Dybala added 11 goals and 6 assists. Demiral, Khedira, and De Sciglio are all injured for Juventus. Juventus might have 7 points to spare now, but if they lose this game, the season will get very interesting and we might have a photo finish on our hands. I’m not a Juventus fan, and I hope someone can take them down.
I’m not sure what happened to Atalanta, but man oh man, they are playing absolutely fantastic soccer this season. Since the restart, Atalanta has won 6 of their 6 games, while scoring 15 goals during that stretch, and conceding only 5 goals. With this stretch, Atalanta has climbed the standings with 3rd place with 66 points, and not only they are in the Champions League spot, but they are the legit threat to Lazio and Juventus in the first two spots. Offensively, Atalanta has been lights out this season with massive 85 scored goals in 31 games, which is an average of almost 3 scored goals per game. Defensively, Atalanta has been a bit weaker with 39 conceded goals. Muriel is Atalanta’s top goalscorer with 17 goals, while Ilicic added 15 goals, and Zapata has 14 goals. Gomez is playing some of the best soccer in his career and he has 13 assists. There are no injuries or suspensions in Atalanta. In their most recent Serie A game against Sampdoria at home, Atalanta was dominant with 63% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and 83% of the correct passes. Atalanta has won this match 2-0. It seems that this dense schedule is working well for Atalanta, and all I want to say is, keep up the great work, and I hope Atalanta can take Juventus down this season.
Juventus is 14-1-0 at home this season, while Atalanta is 10-4-1 on the road. Atalanta is on the 11-game winning streak. I’m loving Atalanta and the soccer they are playing, and I decided to side with Atalanta in this game because I’m not sure that Juventus will have time to recover from their loss against Milan earlier this week.
