Liverpool host Burnley on Saturday, July 11th at Anfield in what is going to be a free-flowing, no pressure Premier League match for both teams. Will Burnley upset the champions, or will Liverpool get ever closer to reaching that 100 point mark?
Liverpool defeated Brighton earlier in the week 3-1. The match was basically over after 8 minutes as Liverpool went 2-0 up straight away. Towards the end of the first half, Brighton scored a goal to give themselves hope of potentially getting a draw, but as soon as the second half started those hopes went out of the window. Liverpool has won 30 out of their 34 Premier League matches and they have not lost a Premier League match at Anfield in over a year. I expect Liverpool to start Firminho here and put on a show as they want to get closer to reaching the 100 point milestone.
Burnley defeated West Ham United earlier in the week in a 1-0 victory. The match was extremely tight and any result could have happened, but eventually, fine margins allowed for Burnley to take all 3 points. Burnley are not a very solid team in my opinion as they are easily opened in defense and you can exploit a lot of gaps in their play, but that does not mean they don't give it their all. Burnley is 9th in the league table and they are only 1 point behind Arsenal. If Burnley get some positive results out of their last 4 matches I am sure they can have a chance of making the Europa League.
The reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a 3-0 Liverpool victory. I see this match as a goal-fest, obviously won by Liverpool, but not discounting the possibility for Burnley to score. Liverpool have been more relaxed in their last few fixtures as they have already won the league. They seem to focus more on their attack than their defense and this can both provide a lot of goals for them, but also allow teams you wouldn't expect to score against them to get a goal. I think this is going to be a 3-1 victory so take Liverpool & over 3.5 goals at +170.
