Watford host Newcastle United on Saturday, July 11th at Vicarage Road in what is going to be an extremely tight Premier League fixture.
Watford pushed themselves 4 points away from the relegation zone as they beat bottom of the league, Norwich City, in a 2-1 victory. Watford went 1-0 down after 4 minutes, but 6 minutes later they equalized and used the momentum to win the match. Watford were in desperate need of points and 3 points against a relegation zone team helped them massively. Watford needs to ensure they are going to get something out of these last 5 Premier League matches as although they are 4 points ahead of Aston Villa and Bournemouth, that is not a massive gap. Watford will now face Newcastle United who are coming off an incredibly brutal defeat to Manchester City. Will Watford capitalise on a Newcastle side who are low on confidence?
Newcastle United were absolutely destroyed by Manchester City earlier in the week, losing 5-0 at the Etihad. City had to make a point after losing 1-0 to Southampton and they definitely used Newcastle as a team to get their confidence back. Manchester City was incredible and Newcastle just left so many gaps open for them to exploit. Newcastle had 26% possession and allowed Manchester City to shoot the ball 23 times, 9 of which were on target. Newcastle were destroyed and I am sure they need a bounceback performance. Will Newcastle give it their all here, or will they just play badly and nonchalantly as they did against Manchester City?
The reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a 1-1 draw and I think this is going to be the same result here. Watford is fighting to stay away from the relegation zone, and Newcastle wants to bounce back after a terrible loss. Both teams will be eager to put on a performance, but I am sure that both teams will be happy to take a point home, especially Watford. This is going to be a 0-0 or 1-1 scoreline, take the draw to be safe at (+265)
