Manchester United host Southampton on Monday, July 13th at Old Trafford in what is going to be a very fun Premier League fixture. Will Manchester United jump up to 3rd in the league after a Chelsea defeat on Saturday, or will they remain in 5th place?
Manchester United has been on top of their game since the return of the Premier League, not losing any of their matches. United has really found their groove, especially because of Paul Pogba's return and because of Bruno Fernandes' amazing quality. Manchester United are 5th in the league, 1 point behind Leicester City and 2 points behind Chelsea who has already played their fixture this weekend. I expect Manchester United to want to get higher than 5th in the league to ensure their Champions League spots and if they keep playing the way they have since the return of the Premier League, there is no chance they are not going to do it.
Southampton do not have much to play for really and they are playing freely and without any tension in their last few games. Southampton's last game was a 1-1 draw against Everton and they were quite dominant. Everton were lucky to come away with a draw in that match and i pin this down to Southampton's freedom in pay as they do not feel any pressure. Southampton will not give it their all if it is going to be a tough match, but that does not mean they will not have their chances.
The reverse fixture between these two teams ended in a 1-1 draw. Manchester United are a much better team now than they were when they last played and this is going to be a completely different match in my opinion. I expect this to be a Manchester United goal-fest with many goals from Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood, and potentially Marcus Rashford. I see this being a 3-0 or 4-0 scoreline at Old Trafford. Take Manchester United and over 2.5 goals at -110 and enjoy what is going to be a Manchester United dominant performance on Sunday at Old Trafford.
