Tottenham Hotspur host Arsenal on Sunday, July 12th at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the North London Derby! Which of these two North London teams will assert themselves as the better team this season?
Tottenham Hotspur has been incredibly disappointing I would say as of recent. Tottenham has struggled to seem dominant in matches against teams which they should really be beating. Tottenham last match was a 0-0 draw against 18th in the league Bournemouth. Tottenham have solid players, but they lack the killer mentality. Tottenham don't come out and try and score multiple goals to ensure their victory, but rather they come out and wait until they can get 1 goal if they're lucky, and then defend for the rest of the match. Tottenham needs to up their game in this North London Derby, especially without one of their key players Eric Dier.
Arsenal has been quite superb since the restart of the Premier League, although they lost their first two matches back, since then they have not lost any. Arsenal are seeming to be finding their groove again and they really want to secure a Europa League spot. Arsenal's last match was a 1-1 draw against Leicester, which Arsenal will be dissapointed with as they could have won that game. The goal scored by Leicester to equalise was a very controversial goal which was a very tight onside call. Arsenal are in great form and they are definitely in a good position to take this match and keep their Europa League chances alive.
The reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates. I think that Tottenham is just not good at the moment. They do not have the confidence or the mentality to give it their all in tough situations. Arsenal, on the other hand, have been continuing to grow under Arteta. This is a North London Derby in which anything can happen, but if I am putting money on the line, I am more confident in Arsenal's ability to dominate this match than I am in Tottenham's. We're getting good plus side money here so take Arsenal at +170.
