Crystal Palace host Manchester United on Thursday, July 16th at Selhurst Park in the 36th Premier League fixture. Will United give themselves hope to get into the Champions League spots, or will they be upset once again as they were earlier in the week?
Crystal Palace has nothing to play for and since the restart of the Premier League have just been waiting for the end of the season. Palace has lost its last 5 matches and they have not been putting their best foot forward. Palace are a solid team on their day and they can cause upsets as we have seen throughout the last few years, but with this match being this late in the season, and with nothing to play for them, I do not see Crystal Palace giving it their all in these last 3 matches.
Manchester United was incredibly disappointed earlier in the week, drawing 2-2 at home to Southampton. Manchester United dominated the match and it looked like they would run away with all 3 points to ensure their spot in the top 4. However, at the 96th minute, Southampton got a point when Michael Obafemi slotted one past David De Gea with his head. Manchester United needed those points and they will need to maximise all their matches in these last 3 games. United have probably been the best team since the restart and they need to use that momentum until the end of the season.
The reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a Crystal Palace 2-1 victory over the Red Devils. As I previously mentioned, Crystal Palace is a team which can cause upsets on their day, however, this is the end of the season and they have no motivation. Manchester United, on the other hand, are extremely motivated to get into the Champions League next season and I am sure they will put their best team forward. Manchester United will dominate this match and they will convert their chances unlike what they did against Southampton. Take United at -1.5 as the ML is too low, I expect a 2-0 or 3-0 victory.
