Rukh Brest FC is welcoming Bate Borisov to Yunost Stadium in round 18 in the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Rukh has been playing some good soccer as of late, and they haven’t lost any of their last 4 games in the Vysshaya League. During this stretch, Rukh has scored massive 13 goals, while conceding only 2 goals. Overall, Rukh has scored solid 23 goals in 17 games this season, while their defense has also been good with only 14 conceded goals. With 25 points, Rukh is in 8th place, and they are getting close to the Europa League. In their latest Vysshaya League game against Energetik on the road last weekend, Rukh was brilliant with 50% of ball possession, 1 corner kicks, and massive 10 shots on goal. Everything Rukh Brest did in this game was going their way, and with 4 goals in each half, Rukh has won this game 1-8. Quite a surprising result I might add. Diallo is Rukh’s top goalscorer with 4 goals, while Vasiljev and Kontsevoy both scored 3 goals. Rukh was solid throughout the season, but they tied a lot of games, and if only a few of those ended up with Rukh winning, they would have been a lot closer to the top of the Vysshaya League.
Something is happening in Bate Borisov, and it’s not good. Bate hasn’t won any of their last 3 games in the Vysshaya League, and they conceded 4 goals during this stretch while scoring only 1 goal. With this bad streak, Bate Borisov has dropped to second place with 31 points, 2 points less than Shakhtyor Soligorsk. Bate has scored 30 goals so far this season, but their defense hasn’t been playing well as of late and Bate Borisov has conceded 18 goals in 17 games. Ignatovich is the leading goal scorer in Bate Borisov with 7 goals, while Milic and Dragun both added 5 goals. In their latest Vysshaya League game against weak Slavia Mozyr, Bate has had 52% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, and 9 corner kicks. Bate Borisov’s offense is just not clicking as of late, but they were still able to score a goal in the 74th minute, but just two minutes later, Bate has conceded a penalty kick, which Slavia turned into a goal. The final score was 1-1. I’m confident that this bad spell will end soon and Bate Borisov is still the best team in the Vysshaya League. With one trophy under their belt already, Bate is still close to the top of the standings and they will look to get the Vysshaya League title back.
Rukh and Bate have played only once against each other and Bate Borisov took the win. I bet Rukh is filled with confidence after their enormous victory last week but Bate is still the better team and they will look to get back on the winning track.
