FC Minsk is hosting Energetik-BGU Minsk to KFP Minsk in round 18 in the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Minsk is in a terrible form and they haven’t won any of their last 6 Vysshaya League games in a row. During this stretch, Minsk has scored only 4 goals, while conceding massive 12 goals. With only 15 points so far, Minsk is in 14th place, which is the relegation playoff spot, but Minsk is only 1 point away from the straight relegation zone. A bit of the good news for Minsk is that they have 2 games less played than the rest of the teams in the Vysshaya League, which means they could get out of the relegation zone one those games are played. Minsk has conceded 28 goals overall this season, which makes them one of the worst defensive teams in the league, while their offense has been solid, but nowhere nearly enough to compensate for bad defense. Minsk has scored 17 goals in the Vysshaya League so far. In their last Vysshaya League match against Dinamo Minsk on the road, FC Minsk has had 48% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, and 8 corner kicks. FC Minsk has lost this game 1-0. There are two more games to be played in the first half of the Vysshaya League, and after that there will be a break, maybe that will help FC Minsk to get back on track.
Energetik has been wildly inconsistent this season, but overall, they are having an awesome season. Energetik is in 4th place in the standings with 29 points, just 4 points away from the top, and if they didn’t lose their last game, and I mean lived a catastrophe, Energetik would have been in second place right now. After winning two games in a row, Energetik was playing against Rukh Brest at home last week. In that game, Energetik has had 50% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, and 8 corner kicks, but their defense was an absolute disaster, and that in combination with Rukh having a very good day is a recipe for a disaster. Energetik was demolished in this match, and the final score was 1-8. It almost seems like these two teams were playing handball or something. Energetik has scored 24 goals this season, and Yakhshibaev is their leading goal scorer with 9 goals. On the defensive end, Energetik has conceded 23 goals, and only the bottom 6 teams in the standings are worse than them on the defensive end. I like Energetik, I think they are an exciting team with the focus on the offense, which is why sometimes their defense plays like crap.
Of the four games, Minsk and Energetik have played against each other, Energetik has won 3, while the last one ended in a draw. Minsk is in a worse form, but Energetik is a bit shaken up after their terrible loss last weekend. Energetik is the better team here, and I think they will bounce back with a nice win on the road.
