Osasuna is welcoming RCD Mallorca to Estadio El Sadar in round 38 in Spanish LaLiga.
Osasuna has been solid since the restart, and they have 5 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws in their last 10 games in LaLiga. Osasuna has secured their LaLiga spot for next season a while ago, and they can still get a few spots higher in the table, but it wouldn’t matter much because Osasuna can’t reach the Europa League anymore. Osasuna is in 11th place with 51 points, 44 scored goals, and 52 conceded goals. In their latest LaLiga game against Barcelona on the road, Osasuna has had extremely low 21% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and low 51% of the correct passes. Despite being forced to defend throughout the entire game, Osasuna was able to score 2 goals from two breakaways, and even after conceding a red card in the 77th minute, Osasuna was still defending extremely well. Osasuna has won this game 1-2 Avila is Osasuna’s top goalscorer this season with 9 goals, while Garcia added 8 goals. Torres has added 7 assists. Avila, Cardona, and Brasanac are injured, while Ibanez, Unai Garcia, and Ruben Garcia are all still questionable for this game. Gallego is suspended because of the red card. Overall, a fantastic season for Osasuna, and I don’t think even they expected to be this high in the standings, but they were in a good form at the right time, and thanks to that, Osasuna was playing without the pressure after the restart.
It’s official, Mallorca is getting relegated because they are in 19th place with 32 points, 4 points away from the safe zone, and with only 1 game left, Mallorca doesn’t have a chance of getting out of the relegation zone. Mallorca hasn’t been overly good in the attacking end, and they have scored only 38 goals in 37 games, while their defense has been the worst in LaLiga with massive 63 conceded goals. Mallorca has had a couple of good games after the restart, and those were the games against Celta and Levante at home, which Mallorca both won, but everything else was worth nothing at all. Budimir is Mallorca’s top goalscorer with 12 goals, while Hernandez and Sevilla both added 5 goals each. There are no injuries in Mallorca, but Pedraza is still questionable. A few days ago, Mallorca was playing against Granada in a game they were not allowed to lose, and Mallorca was the better team with 52% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 81% of the correct passes. In the 20th minute, Mallorca has scored a leading goal, and everything looked fantastic for them, but Granada has tied the game in the 46th minute of the first half. In the 69th minute, Granada has scored another goal, and after that, everything went downhill for Mallorca. They conceded 2 red cards, and in the end, Mallorca has lost this match 1-2, and with that, Mallorca has lost every chance to get out of the relegation zone. We saw a few flashes from Mallorca through the season, but it just wasn’t enough. I wish all the best to Mallorca in LaLiga 2 next season.
Mallorca has won only 1 game in the road this season, while Osasuna hasn’t lost any of their last 6 home games against Mallorca. The question is if Mallorca will have any will power left after their loss from a few days ago to say goodbye to LaLiga with a win, but I don’t think they do.
