Sevilla is welcoming Valencia to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in round 38 in Spanish LaLiga.
Sevilla hasn’t lost any of their last 10 games in LaLiga since the restart, but they do have 5 draws, from which 4 were in a row. Despite dropping a lot of points with all those draws, Sevilla is in 4th place in the standings with 67 points, and they will go in the Champions League, but Sevilla still has a chance to get to third place if they win this game, and Atletico Madrid loses their match. With 53 scored goals, Sevilla has been solid in the attacking end this season, while conceding only 34 goals makes Sevilla one of the best defensive teams in LaLiga. In their last LaLiga game against Real Sociedad on the road, Sevilla has had massive 63% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, and solid 83% of accurate passes. This was a game where neither team’s offense was in the mood, and it ended in a 0-0 draw. Ocampos is Sevilla’s top goalscorer with 14 goals, while De Jong added 6 gaols. Banega and Navas both have 7 assists. Corchia is the only injured player for Sevilla, while Banega is suspended because of the yellow card. Sevilla lacked goals this season, and when Ocampos wasn’t in the mood, Sevilla was struggling in the attacking end, but their mission was accomplished, and that was to get qualified for the Champions League. Sevilla is still playing in the Europa League this season where they will face Roma in the knockouts next month.
Valencia is starting to play better, but it’s too little, too late. With 53 points, Valencia is in 8th place in the standings, and theoretically, they still have a chance in getting to the Europa League, but for that to happen, a lot of weird things would need to go Valencia’s way, such as Valencia winning their game against Sevilla first and foremost, then Sociedad, Getafe, and Granada all shouldn’t win their games. It’s a lot to happen, but we have seen stranger things happening. Valencia hasn’t scored a lot of goals this season, 46 in total, but their defense just wasn’t good enough, and Valencia has conceded 52 goals. Gomez is Valencia’s top goalscorer with 9 goals, while Parejo added 8 goals. Moreno added 7 assists. Piccini and Moreno are both injured, while Costa is suspended because of the red card. Gaya, Vallejo, and Diakhaby are still questionable. In their latest LaLiga game against Espanyol, Valencia has had 48% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, and 84% of the correct passes. With a lot of luck, Valencia has won this game 1-0. Everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong for Valencia in the second half of the season, but I’m sure they are still hopeful that they can get to the Europa League.
Valencia has barely had any success against Sevilla on the road, but they must go for the win here. I don’t think Atletico will lose their game, which means that Sevilla’s victory here wouldn’t mean anything, but they must stay in good form before the Europa League start. I will pick something on the goal here.
