Lecce is welcoming Brescia to Via del Mare in a derby match of the bottom of Serie A in round 35.

Lecce still hasn’t lost hope of staying in Serie A next season, and they shouldn’t because they are only 4 points away from the safe zone. Lecce is in 18th place with 29 points, solid 42 scored goals, and with the worst defense in Serie A with massive 76 conceded goals, which is an average of over 2 conceded goals per game. Lecce has won only 1 game since the restart, alongside 6 losses and 1 draw. In their latest Serie A game against their competitor for that spot just outside the relegation zone, Genoa, Lecce was a slightly better team with 53% of ball possession, 8 corner kicks, 85% of the correct passes, but only 1 shot on goal. Lecce was losing at half time, but they were able to tie the result in the 60th minute. In the 81st minute, Lecce has scored an own goal, and they lost this match 2-1. Mancosu is still Lecce’s top goalscorer with 12 goals, while Lapadula added 7 goals. Falco added 5 assists. Rossettini, Calderoni, and Deiola are all injured, while Petriccione is suspended because of the yellow cards. In their last 4 games of the season, Lecce is playing against the teams from the bottom half of the Serie A table, and if they can get 4 points from those 4 games, I think Lecce might even stay in Serie A.

Mathematically, Brescia can still get out of the relegation zone, but they would need to win all of their games until the end of the season, but I don’t see it happening. Brescia is now in 19th place with 24 points, only 32 scored goals, and massive 71 conceded goals. In their last 8 games in Serie A since the restart, Brescia has 4 losses, 2 draws, and 2 wins, alongside 10 scored goals and 22 conceded goals. Donnarumma is Brescia’s top goalscorer with 7 goals, while Torregrossa added 6 goals. Tonali added 6 assists. Cistana, Bisoli, Alfonso, and Skrabb are all injured, while Spalek is suspended because of the yellow cards. In their latest Serie A game against Spal a few days ago, Brescia has had 51% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 7 corner kicks, and solid 79% of the correct passes. Brescia was losing at the half time of this game, but contrary to everything they did this season, Brescia has turned the game around in the second half, and in the end, Brescia has won this match 2-1. With only four games left this season, I just don’t have confidence in Brescia to win all four of those games to give themselves a chance of getting out of the relegation zone. I’m sure we will not be watching Brescia in Serie A next season.
