Arsenal host Watford in the final day of the 2019/20 Premier League season at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal has opened the door for Aston Villa to save themselves from relegation, but will Watford pull an upset here to ensure their safety?
Arsenal are coming off a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa which has now put Aston Villa out of the relegation zone. Arsenal did not put on a solid performance there and this may be because of their FA Cup Final next month. Arsenal are a side which is always up and down in performance and their latest performance has really put the bottom of the table on edge. Watford looked to be sure to remain in the Premier League, however, a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City and then Aston Villa's victory against Arsenal has ensured Watford are now 18th in the league, with 1 goal behind in goal difference from Aston Villa.
Watford's defeat to Manchester City has been its downfall due to goal difference. If Watford put a bit more effort in and maybe lost the match 2-0 or 3-0, they would now be in a solid place to ensure their safety this season. However, they are not 18th and looking extremely likely to fall down to the Championship. Watford have been in the Premier League for longer than anyone can think of, and it is very sad to see them falling out of the Premier League.
The reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a 2-2 draw. Arsenal went 2-0 up in that match but eventually gave away 2 easy goals for Watford to steal a point. However, Arsenal are much better now than they were then. I expect Watford to be very low on confidence and I expect Arsenal to want to put in a solid performance before their FA Cup Final next week. Watford will be relegated from this match, and unfortunately for them, Arsenal will dominate here. I expect a solid Arsenal bounceback from their defeat to Aston Villa. Take Arsenal to win this match at -110 and say goodbye to Watford from the Premier League.
