Burnley host Brighton on Sunday, July 26th at Turf Moor on the final day of the 2019/20 Premier League season. This is going to be a tight, free-flowing encounter, but who will come out on top?
Burnley are coming off a 2-0 victory over Norwich City last Saturday. Burnley really gained control of the match after Norwich went 2 men down after a Emi Buendia red card in the 35th minute and a Josip Drmic red card in the 45+3rd minute. Burney against a 9-man Norwich City had no issue getting up the pitch and took home all 3 points. Burnley have had an average season, but there is hope for next season to be higher up the table. I imagine Burnley will be playing free-flowing football as they have nothing to play for anymore, other than just improving their performances before next season begins in a month or so.
Brighton is coming off a tight 0-0 draw against Newcastle, a match which they should have really won and it is shocking that this late in the season they are not giving it their all and playing free-flowing football as they have less pressure on themselves. Brighton is safe from relegation and I would be shocked if they still have another 0-0 draw against Burnley. I expect Brighton to play more like they did against Arsenal, feeling confident and giving it their all.
The reverse fixture between both sides ended in a 1-1 draw at Falmer Stadium. Since then, Burnley has been the much better team and it is my prediction that Burnley will win this match. I expect both teams to have many chances here as it is a match where there is no pressure and players can play freely, however, at the end of the day, Burnley should get over the line here. Another good option might be to look at the goals. With matches being played freely on the last day of the season, it is very likely that many matches go over the 3.5 goals. But just to be safe, I'd recommend to take Burnley at +137.
