Energetik-BGU Minsk is hosting Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino in a derby match of round 19 in the Belarus Vysshaya League.
Energetik has been struggling over the last couple of weeks, especially on the defensive end where they conceded 10 goals in two games, and with that, Energetik has dropped to 4th place with 29 points, but still only 5 points from the top of the standings. Overall, Energetik has scored 25 goals so far this season and they are one of the best offensive teams in the league, but they also conceded 25 goals, which puts Energetik among the worst defensive teams in the Vysshaya League. In their most recent Vysshaya League game against FC Minsk on the road, Energetik was solid with 50% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, and 7 corner kicks, but unfortunately for Energetik, their defense hasn’t had time to recover, and Energetik has lost this game 2-1. Yakhshibaev is Energetik’s leading goal scorer with 9 goals. This is the last game in the Vysshaya League before the break, and Energetik would be very happy with a win here, but their form is bad at the moment, especially on the defensive end. Overall, this first half of the season was good for Energetik, and with the exception of their last two games, I think Energetik can be happy with their season so far.
Torpedo hasn’t been playing well as of late, and they haven’t won any of their last three games in the Vysshaya League. With 27 points, Torpedo has dropped to 6th place in the table. With 21 scored goals, Torpedo has been decent in the offensive end, while their 20 conceded goals in 18 games are not the best, but far from the worst defense in the league. Gabriel Ramos has scored 6 goals for Torpedo so far this season, while Gorbachik added 5 goals. In their last Vysshaya League game against Dinamo Minsk at home, Torpedo has had 54% of ball possession, 8 corner kicks, but 0 shots on goal, and this match ended in a 0-0 draw. Torpedo was an outstanding team back in April and May, but that form is long gone, and in their last 7 games, Torpedo has only 1 win, alongside 11 conceded goals, and 6 scored goals. Defensively, Torpedo is still doing well, but they are not creating a lot of chances, even against some of the weakest teams in the Vysshaya League, and that is something Torpedo will need to work on during this break, and hopefully, fix the problems.
Torpedo has only 2 wins on the road this season, while Energetik has been solid at home so far. Energetik is not in a good form, but they will look to win their last game before the break and get a little bit closer to the top of the standings. I will take Energetik here.
