Sampdoria is welcoming Milan to Luigi Ferraris in round 37 in Italian Serie A.
Sampdoria was playing well against Juventus in their last Serie A game, but ultimately, it wasn’t good enough to stop Juventus from winning this match, and another Serie A title. Sampdoria has had 38% of ball possession in this game, 5 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 81% of the correct passes. With 1 goal in each half, Sampdoria has lost this match 2-0. With 41 points, 46 scored goals, and 60 conceded goals, Sampdoria is in 15th place, and they are safe from the relegation. Quagliarella and Gabbiadini have scored 11 goals each for Sampdoria this season, while Ramirez added 7 goals. There are no injuries in Sampdoria, but Ekdal is still questionable for this match. Sampdoria was solid after the restart with 5 wins and 6 losses, but it was enough for them to secure their Serie A spot for next season. This match against Milan will be tough for Sampdoria, but I expect them to get one more win this season in their last game against Brescia in the final round of Serie A.
Milan is still undefeated since the restart, and more importantly, Milan is a threat to every team they are playing against because their offense is firing on all cylinders. Milan has scored at least 1 goal in all of their last 10 games since the restart, while they were able to keep 2 clean sheets. Milan is in 6th place in the standings with 60 points, which is the Europa League qualifications spot, but they are only 4 points away from Roma in 5th place, which they won’t reach in my opinion. Milan has scored 56 goals so far this season, which isn’t bad, while their defense has been decent with 45 conceded goals. In their latest Serie A game against Atalanta at home, Milan has had 47% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, and 74% of the correct passes. This wasn’t the best game Milan has played lately, but they were still able to get a positive result from it. This match ended in a 1-1 draw. Rebic is Milan’s top goalscorer with 11 goals, while Calhanoglu added 8 goals and 8 assists in what has been his best season since he joined Milan. Musacchio and Romagnoli are both injured, while Conti is still questionable. Thanks to their fantastic streak since the restart, Milan is on the verge of getting back to one of the European competitions, the Europa League, and they are starting to resemble the Milan from the early 2000’. With a few more additions to the team in the offseason, I think that Milan can compete for one of the top four spots in Serie A next season.
Sampdoria has had some success against Milan at home, but I’m siding with Milan in this one as they are the better team with much more to gain if they win this game. Sampdoria has had some great games since the restart, and they have secured their spot in Serie A, but they are now on a bad streak.
