Juventus is hosting Olympique Lyonnais at Allianz Stadium in the second leg of Round of 16 in the Champions League.
Juventus has won the title in Serie A, but they are far from their best form. Juventus has lost 3 of their last 5 games while winning only 2 games of their last 8 games. With 83 points, Juventus ended at the top of Serie A, just 1 point above Inter. Overall, a solid season for Juventus, but they weren’t the best neither offensively nor defensively in Serie A this season. In the Champions League, Juventus has dominantly won their group with 16 points, 12 scored goals, and only 4 conceded goals. Dybala has scored 3 goals and added 4 assists for Juventus in the Champions League, while Ronaldo and Higuain both added 2 goals. Khedira, De Sciglio, Costa, and Dybala are all injured, and they will not be in the lineup for this game. Coach Sarri could sure use some of these injured players, but Juventus has enough depth to cover for any injuries, including these ones. Ronaldo has been in good goalscoring form as of late, which is important for Juventus because he is still one of the sharpest goalscorers out there, but Juventus as the team had a lot of problems recently, I just hope coach Sarri was able to fix some of them ahead of this important game in the Champions League.
The bad news for Lyon is that they have played only 1 competitive game since early March, and that was against PSG last week in Coupe de la Ligue, which Lyon lost in a penalty shootout. Lyon was decent in this match with 43% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, and 78% of the correct passes. The regulation and overtime ended in a 0-0 draw, while Traore missed a penalty in the sixth series for Lyon, and with that, Lyon lost the trophy. In the Champions League, Lyon has won the second place with 8 points, 9 scored goals, and 8 conceded goals, which qualified them for this matchup against Juventus. Depay has scored 5 goals for Lyon in the Champions League this season, while Aouar added 3 assists. There are no injuries or suspensions in Lyon as of right now. After the Covid-19 hit, French Ligue 1 was canceled, and PSG was announced as the new champion, while Lyon ended in 7th place with only 40 points, far from the Champions League spot. Lyon is a good team, for the French Ligue 1, and even there they have been struggling over the last few seasons. To be honest, I think Lyon even being in this Round of 16 is a surprise to me. I think that Lyon has some talented players, but their lack of depth could be costly for Lyon.
Juventus has lost the first leg 1-0 on the road, but they are the better team here, with better players, and more depth, and believe that Juventus will turn this game around, and got qualified for the quarterfinals.
