Bayern Munich is hosting Chelsea at Allianz Arena in the second leg of Round of 16 in the Champions League.
Bayern has been brilliant since the restart, and they have won every single one of their games in Bundesliga and DFB Pokal. Bayern has once again proved that they are the best team in Germany by winning both Bundesliga and DFB Pokal this season. With 100 scored goals, only 32 conceded goals, and 82 points won, Bayern was the most consistent and the most dominant team in Bundesliga, and they have deservedly won this competition. In the Champions League, Bayern has won their group with a maximum of 6 wins, 24 scored goals, and only 5 conceded goals. Of all the teams competing in the Champions League, Bayern has shown the most talent on both ends. Lewandowski has scored massive 11 goals in 6 games for Bayern in the Champions League, while Gnarby added 6 goals. Tolisso has 4 assists. Pavard is the only injured player for Bayern, and his return date is still unknown. In my opinion, Bayern is the biggest favorite to win this competition because they are the best team overall, and they have one of the best strikers in the world in their lineup, I just hope that this a month-long break from competitive soccer didn’t take the edge of Bayern’s game.
Chelsea has been hot and cold as of late, but overall, this was a good season for them, and Chelsea ended up in 4th place with 66 points, which will get them into the Champions League next season as well. Last week Chelsea was playing in the FA Cup finals against Arsenal, but unfortunately, Chelsea has lost that match 2-1 and they will most likely end this season without a trophy. Like most of the season, Chelsea had problems on the defensive end in the Champions League as well, but they were able to win second place with 11 points, 11 scored goals, and 9 conceded goals in 6 games. Azpilicueta, Abraham, and Jorginho all have 2 goals for Chelsea in the Champions League. Gilmour, Azpilicueta, Pedro, Ampadu, and Baba are all injured for Chelsea, and they will be playing in this game. Chelsea has proved they can go toe to toe with the strongest teams in the EPL, and they probably have the most talented team in the EPL, and with Werner already signed, and Havertz being close to signing the contract with Chelsea, that talent has expanded massively. I was expecting Chelsea to be close to the top of the table this season, but they could be a real threat to Liverpool and Manchester City next season. Frank Lampard is doing a fantastic job with this team, and the future is bright for Chelsea.
Bayern has a massive 0-3 advantage from the first leg, but this is soccer, and anything is possible. To be honest, I don’t expect Chelsea to turn this matchup around, but they should be able to score at least 1 goal.
