Manchester United and FC Copenhagen are playing UEFA Europa League Quarterfinals at RheinEnergieStadion.
Manchester is in a fantastic form, and they are scoring a lot of goals, and more importantly, United is winning games. In their latest Europa League game against Lask at home, United has had 63% of ball possession, 3 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 80% of accurate passes. The first half was slow, but we saw 3 goals in the second half, and in the end, Manchester United has won this game 2-1. Manchester United has scored a lot of goals in the Europa League this season, but their defense has been outstanding with only 3 conceded goals so far. Greenwood has scored 5 goals for United, while Martial added 4 goals. Juan Mata has added 5 assists. Tuanzebe is the only injured player for United, while James is at risk of suspension if he concedes another yellow card. The start of the season was slow for Manchester United, but they have been brilliant after the restart, and they are probably the biggest favorite to win the Europa League title this season. United is playing confidently, and their offense is firing on all cylinders at the moment, and I don’t see a team in the Europa League that could stop them.
Copenhagen has been decent in the Danish Superligaen, which they ended in second place, but far from the top. In the Round of 16 in the Europa League, Copenhagen has lost to Basaksehir in the first leg 1-0, but they were fantastic in the second leg at home. Copenhagen has had 43% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 74% of ball possession. The game started great for Copenhagen and they got ahead early, in the 4th minute. In the second half, Copenhagen has scored 2 more goals and has won this match 3-0, which got the in the quarterfinals. In the group stage, Copenhagen ended in second place, but they haven’t scored a lot of goals, just 5 in 6 games while conceding 4 goals. Wind, N’doye, and Santos have all scored 2 goals each in the Europa League this season, while Bengtsson added 2 assists. There are no injuries or suspensions in Copenhagen at this time. Copenhagen is a solid team, but I’m afraid that Danish Superligaen is just too weak for any of their team to make a stronger impact on the European stage, but who knows what could happen.
Manchester United is the better team here, by far, and I think that this is, unfortunately, the end of the road for Copenhagen, especially because this is a 1-game knockout from now on. United and Copenhagen have played only twice against each other, but that was back in 2006. I think United will get another nice win to advance into the semifinals.
